OK, now I want to dig a little deeper...I have this parts truck with a Dana 60 in the front end (presumable an open rear). I have a deceased '92 E-250 with a Dana 60 LS 3.73 non full floating rear in it (semi-floating?) (If you have this much stuff you might be hillbilly). Can I install that older LS into that other housing? I suspect it's a smaller size ring gear.

A.) You really don't want to do that, even if you can. Assuming this is for street driven truck, keep the FRONT an open diff
B.) My guess would be no they won't interchange. But, call these guys and ask. FORD - Torque King 4x4
Nobody's asked if you're using the stock cover or an aftermarket cover? My D80 with an aftermarket cover took 4 quarts.
I’m changing mine this weekend and everything I see says exactly what you said, 4 -4.25 quarts. Appreciate you chiming in, now I can still trust the specs I have and I don’t have to start digging all over again.
Highly recommend one of those Lube Locker gaskets if you are reusing a stock style cover. If money is no object, those fancy new Banks covers come with a drain plug and sight glass for very easy future servicing.
