Tires

It's time for tires again. I still run the OEM Firestone TransForce 235-85-16's. I'd like to go a little wider but not change the rims. Is anybody running 265-75-16's on the original 7" steel wheels? I believe a 265-75-16 would be 31.65" tire. The 235-85-16"s are 31" does not look like a clearance issue to me, just wondering if the 265 is ok on a 7" rim.

The 265's fit perfectly. That is what this truck should have come with

You can even fit 285/75-16 on it but will have to notch the front bumper like an 1"or 2" and they look better.

Depends. The 265/75 and 235/85 are within 1/10 inch of one another overall height. Wintertime, I'll take a narrower tire over a wider one ("pizza cutter" effect). Not to mention a potential slight fuel edge for the narrower tire.

I have 265/75/16 on my truck and I love them. The look is just so much better than the 235's. I don't notice any difference in driving with the wider tire other than it doesn't sink into the ground when in soft grass so bad. If I had an F350 I would be on 285's...........that is what I will buy next because I will have a RSK w/ D60 and F350 rear blocks.

For me, if tire A looks 100,000 times better than tire B, and tire B provides 0.000001% better operation than tire A, I run tire B. When I'm looking at my tires, I'm not driving the truck. When I'm driving the truck, I'm not looking at the tires, and I d@mn sure don't care how the truck looks to anyone else. Drivers need to pay attention to the road, not to how one particular truck's tires look on it.

I like my 235/85s. Especially for winter driving. Traction is way better than a wider tire and when they get some miles on them I can swap them on to my trailer that has the same size tires to burn them off there. That way I can keep pretty good tires on the truck all the time
