I drive a 2002 7.3L Ford Excursion that I haul cars with around the country for my customers using a tilt deck trailer. Recently, I installed new headlights and bulbs, and at the same time, also installed a Brite Box as well. While testing everything, I noticed that when I put the headlights in bright mode, the passenger side headlight turns off (bright and dim), but when pulling the multi switch onto the "Flash to Pass" mode, both headlights turn on bright, along with the low beams. This indicates that the Brite Box is functioning properly. I then took the Brite Box out of the circuit, and plugged the headlights back in the stock configuration, and in bright mode, the passenger side still drops out, but both work again in the "Flash To Pass" mode. Any ideas what might be the problem?
Thanks for your input, guys. I was thinking it is a problem with the multi function switch or related wiring as well. I'll have to dig in and check it out.
Our Ex does the same thing though it doesn't shut completely off, just really dim. I have to pop the hood and get in there behind the headlight and move the wires around until it comes back on to normal. It has been doing this for many years.
