Installing Android stereo in Excursion need help with SWC wiring
I am installing an Android stereo (Brand = Pumpkin) in my 04 Excursion and want to use the existing steering wheel audio controls for volume etc. My Android has K1 and K2 wires for SWC, but I am not sure where to connect to my Ford harness. I have pin 18 tapped on the unused Ford connection, but which wire do I connect to pin 18?
Left one connects to wiring harness adapter, but right hand has no adapter. Pin 18 on right hand is the one I have tapped, but not sure...
on two other systems I installed, but it didn't work.
I did get my android to work though:
Connect Key1 to Pin 18 and then Key2 to chassis ground. Then go to the steering wheel program screen and hit start then choose each control that you have and hit the corresponding button on your steering wheel. In my case I only have vol +, Vol -, Next, and Mode. Works PERFECT!
The android systems aren't plug and play, but they are way better than Jensen and of course better than stock. Radio reception is much better than stock radio. It's nice to have google maps for navigation and full web access via wifi as well.
Had same issue on 06 f250. Just moved one of the unused wires from the adapter to pin 18 and only connected key 1 wire from andriod unit. As said above, easy to program buttons on the swc menu after that.
