Blew the dome light fuse while wiggling the battery cable trying to start truck (93 f150) .Speedo & odometer both quit. Replaced fuse, checked all others, still no speedo. Some searching says when both go suddenly, could be a connection.Any ideas where to start, or did i do the PSOM in?
My '93 F250 had that circuit (54 on Fuse 8, light green with yellow stripe) fried in the harness when I got it, most likely due to incompetent stereo installation and improper fuse rating. I fixed it and then the dome lights worked but the odometer didn't. Not sure about the speedo too but it all comes off the PSOM as you note.
They'd rigged another line to the power for the PSOM which I'd removed along with all the other hacks. Once I reconnected the PSOM to circuit 54/fuse 8, all was working again.
That circuit also powers: glovebox lamps, courtesy lamps, cargo lamp, power mirrors, and the stock radio. Do all those things work now except the PSOM?
I have a .pdf of the relevant power distribution schematic which I downloaded from bbbind.com, attached. Only connection could be splice S214 but I don't know where it is physically...
Yes, the radio & cargo lamp work.Not sure if the glove box light works, but will check. I know the complete history of this truck, only wiring other than original is a trailer plug, installed by Ford, it may even be factory. I had the door open when i was working with the battery connection, the on/off power is what i figure blew the fuse initally.Just want to check all options before replacing or rebuilding the speedometer. Thanks for your intrest & help.
Fuse 8 supplies Keep Alive power to the PSOM. Fuse 18 is hot only when the ignition switch is in the Run position. When this supply is gone the odo/speedometer will be blank.
