My speedo stopped working yesterday. It's an intermittent problem that has happened before, but usually it comes back after some time. Now it's been 24 hours, and no dice. I spoke w/ the dealership, and the service writer asked a mechanic who suggested checking the fuse before I bring it in. Good idea, but I can't figure out which one to check - the manual doesn't specify "speedometer" or anything like that. I reseated all of the fuses (none of them seemed loose, but whatever). Does anyone know which fuse is directly related to the speedo and if there are other functions that would be affected? I'll be able to tell if it's the fuse if other functions tied to that circuit aren't working...
It could possibly be a corroded connection in the cluster. If you have time, you could remove the cluster, check all connectors and internal connections and try it out again.
I have pulled apart my cluster before and it wasn't too tough. Just take your time and make sure you disconnect the battery before you start.
