Wish Ford would offer a Super Duty in Sport Trim. My last F350 I ordered a Platinum, due to I hate all the excessive chrome. Yes I know a Platinum has chrome all over it as well, just not as bad on the grill and bumpers.
I don't get it, you can get an F150 Sport trim, just can't order it on a Super Duty. I've tried optioning out a XL, however when you try to get certain features it forces you into a Chrome XLT.
No offense, I'm just not a fan of chrome. Even RAM and GM offer a sport package, just can't get it in a Ford. I hear so many folks spending lots of money removing chrome from their trucks.
The Super Duty marketing team must be into Chrome or think everyone wants more of it. Less is more in my opinion.
I would order one today if I could get a Sport XLT or Lariat!

I concur in spades. Not chrome. I tried to get the dealer to swap for some black bumpers on my XL but they wouldn’t do it. At least I got the black grill.
I would consider one too, think the last year was 07 for the sport XLT? Always thought it sold good, Dodge and GM offer the black sport package with smoked lights which is nice.
I like the XL grill with chrome bumpers. Not too much chrome, just a little.
I don't see why you can't special order black XL bumpers on any truck. Ford does custom stuff all the time. Unless, there are NO runs of black bumpers. I haven't seen a single XL truck yet, without chrome bumpers. The XL black bumpers aren't a very nice black anyways. I used to mask my 2008 f250 with moving blankets and just spray paint the XL bumpers VHT epoxy black every spring. I removed them to do it right the first time, a bit of a PITA. If you take the time to remove the bumpers, get them powder coated.
You can rough up the chrome and then powder coat the bumpers. It's not optimal, but we do it with crappy American motorcycles all the time. But they don't experience chips and road salt the way trucks do. Or you could grab a roll of Oracal and just wrap the bumpers.
My XL wheels will get get sprayed with VHT epoxy black when I rotate them in the spring. I'd like to pick up a set of Lariat 18" wheels and get them powder coated black.
I don't hate the chrome, I hate the trucks that scream "family guy!". Brown and Mother of Pearl KR's. Most Excursions for example. It's almost impossible to find a used Excursion in white, silver, red, or black. Just soccer mom colors like Sunburst or Sunset red orange, that darn Strawberry Pearl, Teal (are you kidding me? Teal? Ugh.), and Forest Green (ok, but meh).
I love the drabb-ish looking Toyota's and Jeeps. Baby puke green, and baby $%^& tan, look pretty cool on trucks. I thought I saw a Raptor like that, maybe it was a wrap.

Nice truck! The black grills on the XL's look good. It's ashamed the STX trim is not all painted bumpers, door handles etc.

The problem with this is that the XL bumpers do not have the cut outs for fog lights or rear parking sensors. If you want a primed/painted bumper with fogs or rear sensors you need a King Ranch or Platinum (possibly Limited?) bumper. While a primed bumper is probably cheaper to produce, they come from the higher trim trucks and isn't going to let you "upgrade" your bumper without stepping into the next higher (or two or three higher) trim level.
Ford pays teams of people lots of $$$ to design their trim packages and options. I would assume that the profit margin on a Limited is exponentially higher than on a stripped XL.
Would Love to replace my Sport F150 with a Sport F350. Just can't talk myself into upgrading it without the Sport trim package. Not sure why Ford doesn't think it would sell?
No offense to anyone that likes chrome, I just don't prefer it and I've had plenty over the years with it.
Now a Black Corvette with chrome wheels Looks amazing!
I kind of like the sport package and kind of don't. I'm a bit peculiar in my tastes apparently. I like the chrome bumpers on solid color trucks and color matched bumpers on two tone trucks. I do really wish you could get the black sport cloth seats in a Super Duty. The one thing that is mandatory with the F-150 that I will not have on any truck is the center console. I'm a bench seat kinda guy. I guess what I'm trying to get at is that I would buy any package that included black cloth 40/20/40 seats regardless of bumper chrome/paint. It's a lot easier to swap bumpers than it is to change interior color.
Just traded in my 13 FX4 (with lux pkg) which back then was a separate trim line. If it wasn’t for the giant chrome bumpers I would have went with a Lariat 250. Now driving a 250 Platinum. Not 100% sure I like it more than my 13 FX4. Except for the massive increase in towing capacity. Which is why I needed to upgrade. A FX4 trim 250 (or sport in the new trim line) would be ideal for me.
I have had 4 lariats. I did not want chrome again. Went XL and loaded it up. Had dealer swap out chrome bumpers and flat black rims. Need to black out badges next. It will do for know til I'm ready for 6" lift.
Black steel wheels rule. Maybe it's just me, I like the look of the XL's the best. It's not really a "base" truck anymore. Mine has everything the 2003 Lariat had, that I borrowed. Except for leather seats, which I don't like in a truck. And the new vinyl, ain't bad at all. I'll be adding Wet Okole seat covers before dive season anyways.
And as long as the Platinum guys are around to keep subsidizing the price on the XL's, hey, I'm cool with that, thanks. But I don't need those options.
I just have to get an OEM brake controller added, that's the only thing I missed out on.

i dont know anything about gm but ive seen ram 2500 sport in atleast four different colors. everyone has their cup of tea but i cant stand chrome. especially that fake ***** on grills that bubbles up like tin foil after a couple years. i think ford is really missing the boat for not offering sport type of package
I feel the same way. I hate chrome. Every other manufacturer has black-out options and packages. I don't know why Ford hasn't gotten with it. I love Fords too much to buy from another manufacturer, but it just leaves me having to budget hundreds more to black out the chrome bumpers, grille, and badging and go through the headache of removing and reinstalling it all.
