Passenger Door
I had my truck in on Monday for state inspection and the door issue. I spoke to the service writer and to a technician. They both acknowledged this to be a known problem both in recalled trucks and in those that were supposedly not inside the recall window. The service writer also said his F-150 occasionally did the same thing, and also said that some customers have experienced this on the drivers side as well.
I waited for my truck until they said I was all set. When I asked about the door, they told me they partially disassembled it and cleaned and lubricated the latch. (Same as others have experienced.). I was told they didn’t do more because they couldn’t replicate the problem on site. (Again, same as others have been told.) I expressed my frustration, but kept it civil and drove away.
I got a follow up call today to ask how the service went. I again expressed my frustration at the dealer refusing to fix the problem because they “couldn’t replicate the problem on site” even though this was a known issue.
He said he was going to meet with the service manager to discuss it and I would get a call back by the end of today.
I’ll follow up again if/when that happens. For now, I’m going to give them the opportunity to do the right thing on their own before I become more insistent and unwavering.

So I have a 2006 Expedition and its doing the exact same thing to the drivers door. We bought this car used about 6 months ago so this is our first winter with it.
Go to open it and it feels frozen shut, handle does nothing and the door won't open. Get in from the passenger side and push the door open and now it won't latch shut. You can move the latch around with your fingers. Both the inside and outside handle feel like there is nothing attached. The first time we were able to leave the car in the sun and it seemed to de-thaw after a couple hours. Happened again today and we had to get going so we took a heat gun to the latch and in about 5 minutes its thawed out and the latch started working again.
Both times it happened it had sat out in the rain and then gotten cold so we think somehow water is getting into the door and into the latch and when we get a cold snap something inside freezes. By leaving it in the sun or taking a heat gun to it we can thaw it out. Once we thaw it out while its still cold out it seems to be fine either sitting outside or in the garage.
I know this is an older vehicle but could this be the same problem everyone else is having? As this just started happening to us I haven't searched any of the documents on it and only just started searching here for this problem. I was originally looking for how to take the door apart so we can lube in the inside or figure out how the water is getting in the door so we can stop it.
Thanks!!
