Sas tips.

I'm in the process of installing a d44 into my 92 f150 reg cab short box.
and was thinking about leveling the bed to level the truck to be able to use plumb bobs to find center of axle. Is that a accurate way of doing it?

If not whats a better way?

Also, I may have to remove the pitman arm, any tips on doing so?
Should I make a center mark with my current pitman to the shaft before removing then center mark the new arm and line the marks up?

To locate the axle I measured off the core support mount back and front cab mount bracket forward.

Are you moving the axle ahead at all? I moved mine forward 2". Depending on the size of tire you plan on running you want to consider it.
Not sure what you are asking with regards to the pitman arm.

Yes I'll be moving the spring buckets forward as far as possible.
Im using 78 coil buckets and 78 4" lift springs with duff lower spring cups and duff ext radius arms.
I plan on running 35" tires.
But I was thinking about jacking the rear up and leveling the bed, then drop plumb bobs from the center of the 78 buckets to find center of the axle, then attach the duff arms to the frame.
I just want to make sure that's a accurate way of doing it?

And on the pitman arm, any tips on removing and reinstalling it? I hear they can be a pain to remove.
I just want to make sure i align the new pitman arm up where the factory one was.

https://www.otctools.com/products/su...man-arm-puller

That is the only pitman arm puller that works well. There is a another works about half the time, but is cheaper.

The first one is much better.
As for putting it on; the arm is keyed so don't worry about it.

You can use a plumb bob to locate, yes, but to find the place to hang the bob is what was referring to.

If you go to fullsizebronco.com and read the SAS subforum all your questions will be answered. Just use an ad blocker on that site.

I'm actually on that site, to be honest not real big on it either.
There is so many threads and most the pictures don't work anymore, and i think the sas has been talked about so much there its hard to get a good answer.

But back to whats happening with mine, I finally got the 78 coil buckets mounted and the bronco air track bar bracket mounted, got the axle in position.
I was waiting on my upper coil spring retainers to come in from JBG they came in today, so tomorrow ill hang the axle.

Had a hang up tho, I planned on at least getting the arms temporarily hung to the mounts that's when i realized Duff had sent two drivers side brackets so now im at a stand still till Tuesday.

But Ive been thinking about using ratchet straps to pull the axle up to the frame instead of jacking it up, this way it wont disturb my front jack stands, then use a plumb bob and at least temp mount the drivers side mount and try squaring everything up and get it centered till i get the other mount.
