I have a 1994 ford explorer. I recently changed my stock speakers, HU , and added an amp and new subs. The problem is in my right passenger door(front). I put in rockford fosgate speakers(120 watts max). My head unit pumps out 180 watts max. The problem is that my front passenger door speaker always blows first. I do not turn my system up past maybe 20 for volume on my jvc HU. But after the front speaker blows the rest seem to go, i do not play it that loud. any help would be appreciated. Thank you
Ok i think i figured out my own prob. My speakers are underpowered and they are becoming distorted. I remembered hearing that underpowering is worse than overpowering so i checked it out. My head unit pumps 180 watts (45x4) max. EAch channel at max could receive 45 watts. However i looked in the manual and only 17 rms goes to each the back and front speakers. My rockfords are 120 watt max so i figure they can handle 60 rms. but i'm only running them at 17 rms so they are very very underpowered. Sorry for my ignorance before
