I thought I would post a thread showing others what kind of MPG and performance I'm getting on the PPEI tunes. I couldn't find much on the '15-'16 trucks when I was researching what to buy.
Before deleting I would get around 20 mpg all highway before a regen would kick in. Around town I would get 14mpg. My lifetime mpg was at 14.7.
I have 400 miles on my delete. PPEI has 5 tunes to switch from with SOTF. I don't have an air intake so I limit my tunes to 1 through 3. So far I have only used level 3 100hp street tune as the baseline. My all highway MPG has dropped to 18. This is a 2 mpg decrease over the same trip from the factory setup. My around town mpg has dropped to 12, also a 2 mpg decrease. Both these numbers are with me driving the truck sensibly, not hot rodding or speeding much. I'm not 100% sure we get a different diesel fuel during winter, but it's possible. This decrease may be attributed to a winter blend. I won't be able to confirm until next summer.
The power is fantastic. The truck was strong before but it's a different animal now. I'm not sold on the transmission pattern. Maybe it's still learning, I don't know. It does not down shift soon enough in my opinion when slowing from highway speeds to 35mph. It lugs at 35 in 6th gear, then downshifts to 5th or 4th. It's difficult to accelerate smoothly from 35 to 45mph. I find myself switching to manual mode when going through small towns just so it shifts better. The exhaust will shoot a puff of smoke whenever dropping from 6th to 5th when passing. Not bad though.
I'll update this thread as mileage progresses and I change tunes or driving habits. My plan is to switch to level 1 tune next for comparison. It is supposed to be 30hp "Optimized Stock".
Hopefully this gets better for you. I have no experience with ppei but the trans tuning can take a while to completely learn. I have a 15 with Spartan tunes and my mileage is a consistent 1l/100km better than the best I ever did stock even cheating resetting between regens, this is with cruise set at 110km/hr on a long 5 or 600k drive. Nothing crazy but definitely better than stock. In town I think it would be better as it used to Regen all the time when I was off work for a couple weeks and only doing short trips around town. Although I have a hard time not laying into it every now and then now that I have the extra power. It is hard to get a consistent mileage number in the city thou I find. My mileage is down at the moment thou with the winter diesel, idle time, and temps being down to -30c currently.
I've left the power setting on level 1 now for almost a month. My MPG seem to be back around stock, maybe 1 mpg better. I haven't had much of any highway use lately. The transmission shifts in level 1 are closer to stock in feel. Overall it's a more comfortable setting.
The one odd thing that has changed is my lie-o-meter fuel consumption gauge. Up until getting deleted, it was always within 0.1-0.2 gallons used accuracy. Now it is off by at least 1.1 gallons, sometimes 1.4 gallons, every single time. Weird.
