I put the A-1 Cardone in when mine went out. No issues except it weighs a good 5-10 lbs more than stock, making it hard to hold in place while my dad put the mounting bolts in. Also, had to adjust the steering since it wasn't centered with the A-1.

This is the one I need for my 2006 F350 4WD

7C3Z-3504BR-M
$514.98 + $225 core.
And you all should know that Ford seems to take any core back.
RedHead wants a usable core and in my case the box is in bad
shape so Ford or a no core deal would be my only real option.
Looks like Summit Racing has that reman one for $375 plus $225 core, free shipping

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mof-stg263rm

RockAuto has brand new Ford box 7C3Z-3504-B for slightly less with core, but have to pay shipping

Any -RBM is a rebuilt box. I believe they were referring to a different number.

That’s the one I mentioned RockAuto having on the first page of the thread. Should be the right one.

You’re quite welcome! Hopefully the one you get doesn’t have any play...I’ve tried a couple aftermarket boxes and they all have had play. I’m looking at a reman Ford box since for some reason the new Ford box is $1200 for the Excursion!

You guys have me confused. Your Excursion should not be the same steering gear as a 2006 super duty. Your Excursion should be the same as a 2004 super duty with the leaf springs in the front. Or maybe I'm missing something.

For the record, Red Head has a good reputation for there rebuilt 99 to 04 super duty steering gears. The 05 to 10 is hit or miss.

Hmm...don’t mean to confuse you. The Excursion steering box IS different than the 05 and later super duty trucks. Hence the new Ford box being $1200 for the Excursion, much more expensive than the approx $400 for a new Ford box for the 05 and later trucks.

My comment regarding aftermarket boxes was simply to give my experience regarding aftermarket boxes...so far the ones I’ve, and a couple other people I know, have tried have all had play right out of the box. That’s the reason I am thinking about getting a Ford steering box.

Red head is less than 20 miles from the house and they have been the goto place
for most people in the past. But with the issues and cost others are not using them.
