Recently picked up a 1973 F100 Explorer. Pretty straight truck, mostly needs cosmetic help. The biggest issue is the interior. It's complete...but covered in black spray paint
Whoever did this made sure to get the black spray paint into every crevice. I took the ash tray out and used citrus strip and it helped on that, but it was a little too aggressive on the glove box door and started eating the factory yellow finish.
What do i need to use to get this paint off the metal interior / dash? Or do I just bite the bullet and sand things down and start over? I'd like to retain the factory yellow underneith. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
Did the PO use rattle can? I see that you used citrus strip but have you tried say lacquer thinner or acetone ? I would recommend trying a small spot that wouldn't be highly visible.
Dapp some on the corner of your rag.
On the one hand how much elbow grease are you willing to use/invest into correcting the PO mistake? if the PO went as far as to scuff/sand the dash then you would be better of just prepping and repainting it.
If your lucky enough and the PO just sprayed it it should wipe of unless the PO used a clear coat over the black....I.M.H.O
Its rattle can. Doesnt look like there was any prep, just maybe cleaned off and then sprayed over. In some areas they sprayed it on so thick it started to run off the headliner
