2 days and still working so far. So it looks like the original problem was just the electrical plug connection to the PSOM. Thanks for all the help!!! Time to throw away the junk PSOM I bought off Ebay.
New guy here. I have a 95 E150 Conversion van, 5.8L, auto- owned many years.
Over the weekend changed the drive belt and tensioner, and pulley wheel. I did not drive it immediately before the belt change. Afterwards, van running with sluggish shifts and speedo at 0, and ODO blank. Fluid level is fine and clear, fuses are fine. Today, tried to change out the VSS-- can't find it on the tranny body (no such item with a connector, on tranny--tranny is bare with a plastic cover over where I thought the VSS should be).
Found this forum. Anything under the hood, I could have bumped to cause this. PCM is inside correct? Dash lights work - other guages work.
(BTW, few weeks past, I changed out the heater blower and resistor to clear a mouse nest fire. Afterwards a loud buzzing under the dash. I'm guessing from the airbag ---stopped on its own)
So, now what should I do to diagnose the shiffting and speedo/odo issue: Is this a PSOM or a speed sensor or a loose under hood connector I don't see.
