Normal, that is where the driveline moves as the suspension cycles up and down

Wow, that really sucks. I've seen that before on an old Volvo where it built up around the rear axle joints, but that was after years of it being a snow car in Indiana, and never washed. Not on a car that's doesn't see much winter.

You could try some heavy epoxy to see if it will seal up the crack for the temp, but for the long haul you may indeed need to replace it.

Made me go out and look under my truck just to see if I have anything trying to grow there too.

I would replace the seal, you can see the crack and evidence of leaking as it is spun all over underneath. Clean it up, scrub the crap off, pull the drive line, pull the seal, install new seal, lube drive line input shaft if required, and re install. I do not recall if you are 4wd or 2wd, if 4wd I'd probably open the t-case and ensure there is still adequate oil in it.

I looked at Ford parts diagrams and was not able to come up with the correct part. Maybe a dealer would have a better way to identify the part. I think that the one you show on eBay is not correct.

Is that a slip yoke on the transfer case? When did Ford start doing that?
