Rear differential leaking

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum but have been reading these posts for quite some time. This forum has been a huge help. I have just crossed 10,000 miles and noticed my rear axle leaking. Looks the the pinion seal. (I may be wrong) It started flinging fluid all over the underside of my truck. Has anyone else had this issue? I couldn't find anything posted on this. I'm calling ford tomorrow to schedule this to be fixed. Thanks!

It looks like the seal. Fix it before the rear-end explodes(when it's empty)

Are there fluid spots on the underside of the bed also? Usually there is a line of fluid on the underside of the bed if the pinion seal has failed.

Yes, there are also spots on a heat shield next to the exhaust, and on the exhaust where it bends to go over the rear axle. However, I wouldn't consider it a "line" of fluid. It's kind of scattered.

that is a bad one. I had that happen on my 06. Just changing the seal did not do the job. Had to replace the yoke because the seal had worn a groove into it. Ask them to check it.

Had the same thing happen on my 2012 F-150 when it was about 4 years old. Had a extended warranty with $100 deductible, but was never charged. I suspect there was a silent recall for leaking pinion seals. Never leaked after that.

Dropped mine off on Saturday for the same thing. Made a mess of the driveway before I caught it.

My pinion seal also let go at 12K miles, at dealer now getting repaired. Hope this doesn't turn into more than a seal and many trips to the dealer. OP any issues with yours after seal replaced?
