So I'm going or be picking up my 66 f100 in a couple hours. I just wanted to know where to find vin and any other numbers on the truck. I just want to compare it to the title to make sure they match. Thanks
All three of my trucks have it stamped on the top of the passengers side frame rail about even with the alternator. Make sure you have some solvent and maybe something like a brass bristle brush to clean the area and you should be able to locate it. This stamping begins and ends with stars
*F10XXXXXXXX*
You should also find the warranty plate on the left drivers door below the latch. I like to verify the door plate matches the frame and matches the title. The door can be changed and sometimes people forget to move the Warranty plate from the original door so the frame is the important one.
the frame one is the most important. many times doors get replaced and the prior owner does not replace the door tag onto the replacement door.
is it hard to find?
my 65 was a little tough to locate. mine was there but faint and under a layer of dirt, light rust etc.
As prior post, you will need a wire brush and some type of solvent to get to the pure metal. to see it.
