what I know about the truck ('66 F-250 4.9L inline 6) I'm working on is it was formerly a fleet truck for SDG&E (our local gas/electric supplier here in San Diego). the last owner bought it from the company where he worked at the time.
from what I can tell, its still pretty much what it was built to be originally (except for some of the more creative 'fixes' the last owner performed).
other than that, I know little about it. I wanted to see if the tag showed anything interesting and you all have a lot more info than I do.
another question regarding this truck. I recently had to replace the radiator. the old one was too far gone to repair cheaply. by far it was less expensive to order a new one.
after 2 tries at the local Auto parts store (and being given two incorrect radiators to start with) it was determined the radiator required is a large brass Heavy Duty F-250/F-350 radiator (vs the other two std duty, narrow aluminum/plastic replacement versions).
at some point it also seems someone installed a Thunderbird style divorced power brake booster. so, with that, what other HD parts might have been installed on/should I look for on these fleet trucks?
