A/C pulley
My wife's 04 Escape (3.0l) developed a squeal sounding kind of like a power steering pump. It does not change what so ever when turning wheel. Was looking under hood to check tensioner for movement while idling (has a little) and noticed the A/C pulley was not spinning. Watched briefly and it started spinning again for a few seconds, then quit again. Sounds like it is in unison of the compressor kicking in and out. the squeal is the same when the pulley is stopped or going. Are these related and I am guessing the A/C pulley is supposed to spin constantly, correct? I (meaning wife) really don't want to put too much $$$ into this as it has 185K miles. Any thoughts, I'm not as knowledgeable on these little things as I am my EX!
