I think the "lifespan" of TPMS sensors is 5-10 years. I had one go out (in colder weather when the battery voltage went down) intermittently in a 2009 car early this year.

I am not sure how much you can get replacement ones for. I think Discount Tire said $60 to locate and replace a bad one but that might be if you have their tire balance/road hazard plan.

Sniff around and see how long the Ford ones are lasting, maybe.

And report on the BFG's after a while if you have a chance. I think I like their design and they even have a full snowflake logo on them which implies they would be good in snow....

I have decided new tpms will go in when I get the tires installed next week. With my luck the batteries would start acting up soon after the install. Any suggestions on installing oem sensors on the original bands and cradles vs. changing over to a set of aftermarket valve stem style (VDO brand)? OEM would be about $40 more pricing everything out on Amazon.
