I have a rattle in the driver's door. When I hit a bump it rattles. I have changed the weatherstripping, still does it. Have had body shops look at it and it is flush, they don't think it should be touched. Any ideas? Had the truck bullet-proofed and they took the cab off and it does not do it as bad as before, but still kind of annoying.
2007 F-350 6.0 PSD 4X4 King Ranch. Has about 170,000 miles on it, going for 500K
Ford has an updated striker. Not sure what is different but it is supposed to be good. Ford part number 9L3Z1522008A RiffRaff is cheapest Amazon and Ebay also have it for more (ignoring shipping).
You have a supercab perhaps??
If so, bittom of back door is a black "weld" that fails, detaching the inside from tge outside of the door. The outside holds the front door tight.
Squeeze the inside & outside together with a clamp, drill the weld for a screw and paint it black. Fixed.
My lock linkage rattled when my truck was new. Traced it to where the metal rod was inserted into a piece of plastic. This area had a lot of play. I gooped that interface up with silicone and it hasn't made a noise since.
Thanks. So you just squeeze it in the opening that the latch on the front drivers side door? Any recommended brand?
After you take the door panel off you will see the linkage and where it interfaces with a plastic end fitting. Just goop this interface up with RTV and let it cure. The noise I had was the metal rod banging around. By fixing it in place basically with sealant it didn't bounce around anymore.
