Getting ready for my Hydra

This week's projects were all to get ready for tunes. No sense tuning a motor if the base systems aren't all in good shape.

1) New HPOP from the Ford stealer
2) Wicked Wheel turbo, slightly used
3) MAP sensor module defeat (eliminates overboost codes)
4) New up pipes with no slip joint (no more soot)
5) Head bridge pipe for HPO system (across the vee)
6) Banks PowerElbow (no more butterfly)
7) Banks downpipe

Now the truck has a bit more power. Idle is smoother, no more lumps. Cold start, oddly, takes a second longer. Throttle tip-in is quicker (already did 140v mod). Old HPOP was leaking oil into the vee. Buh-bye driveway stains.

DID I MENTION THAT THE WW TURBO SCREAMS THRU THAT LOUSY K&N? The K&N comes off in a day or two, whenever the S&B system arrives. It's late.

The Banks PowerElbow has a boss on it for EGT probe, coming next week along with the monitoring screen to watch EGTs. Yes, a probe in the up pipes would be better but I can also mentally add 300° to what I get in the turbo outlet. I'll run this way for another week or more before installing 80% sticks and the Hydra. See here for a note on installation troubles with the Banks elbow on my stock-style exhaust https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post17657811

The PowerElbow has given the truck a deeper exhaust tone, even though the back 3/4 of the system is unchanged (a 4" SS stock replacement). At this point, I choose to live my life as a happy man.

You are really getting it done! Congratulations on your success so far

Looking forward to your impressions with the S&B instead of the K&N.

It's a local guy right here in Georgetown TX. We just happened to see his storefront one day driving by, never knew he was local. He's bullish on the Hydra too. But the name slips my mind. It's just a little 2" dongle thang.

I'm wary of electronic boost foolers. The MAP sensor needs protection when you power up, so I'm a big fan of the type that regulates the pressure to the MAP sensor.
