Whine coming from front end in 4H when accelerating?

Hey everyone, so yesterday was the first time I used the 4H in my truck. Roads were slushy and I just wanted to test the 4x4 system. Well I noticed a whine coming from the front end when accelerating, however it would go away when I let off the gas. The faster I went, the more pronounced the sound became. I could even hear it over the radio. I've owned many 4x4 trucks and I never experienced this before so I assume it's not normal. I'm going to the dealer soon to have some interior bits fixed, but I just wanted to know if anyone else as experienced this. Kind of sucks as the truck only has 5500 miles on it.

No harm in having your dealer check it out. Check your drive shaft bolts securing the u-joints front and rear as there have been a few reports of lose ones. Probably normal drive noise from the transfer case, and the front u--joints in the steering axle.

Wow loose u-joints from the factory? That's a big one to miss at the factory. Thanks for the heads up I'll check tonight. The noise is pretty loud extremely annoying and 'it's normal' better not be the answer I get from the dealer. Sadly, my 1986 F-150 has a quieter 4x4 system.

Same for mine. I believe it is the transfer case. Here are few other similar threads:

For the record and comparison, I have a manual transfer case. I don't have time to drop my truck off at the dealer to look into this issue. I would love any updates if anyone tries to get this issue addressed.

Are the universals on the drive shaft greaseable? My 2015's shaft is getting noisy. I'll have to check it out.

Is there a greasable slip yoke? I haven't spent any time under my 2017 yet.

I will check today. I have had roughly a dozen SD's and never had this noise/humming before. I have been told it is not abnormal by some members.

The transfer case is a totally different design for 2017. Previously, it had been the NVG 271/273 for many years on the Super Duty.

It would be normal to hear just a small amount of front drivetrain noise when rolling or under acceleration. Frankly, I don't hear anything on mine.

I see MrFord and RainDesert are driving 6.2L trucks. Could it be that the 6.2L is so quiet that you hear the noise whereas the diesel exhaust tone masks it?

Anyone with a diesel have the problem? I've had two 2017 trucks and have not heard this whine, but both are diesel.

I ran mine for the first time in the snow this past weekend and really didn't notice any noise at all. I think my 2016 F150 may have made more noise when in 4H than the F250. My truck is 100% stock, FYI.

As far as I have found, the only grease fittings are on the u-joints on the axle next to the front wheels.

That would be correct.
