The heat in my '05 F250 will not warm up now that the weather is cold under normal driving conditions. If I get on the interstate and drive for say an hour or so it will eventually warm up but just normal day to day driving, it stays cold. It did this about 3 years ago and I put a new Motorcraft thermostat in it and that took care of it but now it's doing it again. My coolant temps never get above 190 now that its cold weather and I have to really get on it to get them to 190, they normally stay at 183-186. Coolant level is good, where it should be at the low mark. Not loosing any coolant, no puking. Only symptoms are no heat and low coolant temps? Time for another thermostat or is there something else I should look at? If it is the stat, should I go with the Mishi 210 degree stat so this isn't an every couple of year problem or stay with the OEM?
I'm happy with the 200* Mishi.
Had the factory t stat in up until winter of 2015, and like yourself could not get above lower 180's, heater would not get that warm, more like lukewarm.
You are wasting fuel at those temps, it's a diesel and is happier and more efficient around 200 or even above.
