A friend of mine has an '04 6.0L F-350 that he thought had RKE, so he bought new fobs, then found out his truck didn't come with RKE. He knows I have a computer with FORScan and heard that I could enable RKE with it.
I just want to make sure that I actually can just do that, and he doesn't need any additional hardware to make it happen?
Does his vehicle have power door locks? If not, then no way it can be made to be RKE. The truck would need the RKE module and you would need to know where to make the change with FORScan if you are able to do it.
Do you know what to "turn on" with FORScan? You might need to post this question over in the forum that covers the 2004 model SD trucks instead of here.
The power lock system is different between the trucks with RKE and Without RKE. I am pretty sure there is hardware missing and there is basicly nothing to turn on.
I had a 2003 that had power locks but no RKE. I had to buy an aftermarket RKE and add it to the truck. It was actually less expencive than a set of OEM fobs, about $50 for everything.
If it doesn’t have keyless entry from the factory it doesn’t have the module and you can’t turn it on with any computer. The turning on options with forscan doesn’t work with the older trucks like the newer ones. If he wants keyless entry get an aftermarket system and get remote start while he’s at it and be done with it.
