I have a 99 F150 Flareside. I'm trying to program some remote entry keypads to my truck but it isn't working. Does anyone know how to check if keyless entry is installed? do you have to have it installed? I've heard as long as I have power door locks (which I do) than a keypad will work. Is this true?
Don't know if I can help you too much, but I can give you some info based on my installation of the Ford "Gold" remote start/ security system.
Apparently there is a big difference between lock/unlock on vehicles factory equipped with keyless entry and those not so equipped at the factory. The wire color and location chart I received (2001 F-150) shows:
"Vehicles w/ keyless are negative polarity (type B), Vehicles w/o keyless are positive polarity (type A). Two doors and all models w/o keyless require two relays for door locks."
I can't really interpret this for your application, but maybe it will give you a lead. Good luck!
I checked with my local ford dealer for the keyless entry system for my 98 f150, they told me that it would cost about 500 to 600 dollars. so i went and got an aftermarket one installed

can you give me some info on where to get an aftermerket one? Average price? Can I install it myself or would it have to be a PRO install?
