Can anyone fill me in on how long the pushrod between a hydroboost and master cylinder is for these trucks? I'm in the process of swapping to hydroboost and the kit I bought didn't come with the rod so I figured I'd try to fab something up. TIA
X2 on Power Brake Sales, I had a great experience with them.
However, I found the process of trimming the rod to be a PITA. After trimming the rod in the kit too short, I cut the adjustable end off of the vacuum booster rod and welded it to the rounded end of the rod supplied in the kit. That made the trial-and-error adjustment a lot easier.
Good to know it’s a good kit atleast. My booster came in today and while it appears to have ford brackets, looks like it’s got a Chevy pushrod. Ordered this kit at the same time so I’ll be able to start on it tomorrow once my MC arrives.
Which master cylinder did you order? SD ?
If so it's a disc/disc MC and you'll need to move your residual pressure valve from your old MC to the new one for your rear drum brakes.
And mod the brake pedal pivot pin location so the rod doesn't rub.
I just did all this a very few months ago.
Move the pivot pin up .56" and center the hole in the pedal lever. I had some 14mm round stock to fill the old hole then welded both on RH side.
You'll need a 14mm S&D drill bit for the pivot pin hole.
Already done the brake pedal mod and I ordered a 95 F super duty MC and the correct rear drum residual valve. Putting the pedal assembly in tonight and Friday I’m hoping to have the pushrod sorted out and put it all in the truck!
Yep hopefully everyone doing this mod gets the brake pedal pin memo. Probably a given, but it’s also a good idea to replace the pedal bushings while you’re there. Mines a manual so I used this P/N and they fit perfect. F3TZ-2C342-A
If no one beats me to it, I’ll take the length measurement of the booster to MC pushrod once I play around with it for future reference
