I have a 95 f-150 xlt 4x4 ext cab short bed i get it aligned all the time in the past 3 months probably about 5 times and its out of alignment. I have to figure out whats wrong all my steering parts are good i have checked and so have they (tire shop) but maybe im missing something hee can you help or give me a pointer or tip ? I have had my BF Goodrich KO2 on there and they lasted 2 1/2 years . I have new ones but i dont want to put them on and ruin them .
Besides for the usual ball joints and tie rods being worn, other things like loose wheel bearing, worn out springs, worn out pivot bushings and radius arm bushings can all affect alignment and tire wear.
Typically a "good" alignment shop will not align it without finding out if something is worn out. They will know that it will not hold the alignment and you will be back complaining.
I had tire issues with my last truck. I had it aligned by 2 different people, 3 different times. It always ate up front tires. I had to rotate them in 5K miles or it would cup them fiercely. I ended up selling it(for other reasons).
My current truck('95 F150 with only 60K miles on it) had an alignment done by previous owner. The truck was chewing tires. I put a tape measure on it and it was 3/4" toe out!!! WTF? I spent some time in the driveway with some wood and a tape measure and it is now wearing tires evenly and not cupping.
I can't understand how so many "experts" can touch a truck and still have it screwed up so bad.
