So you can still get a v10 in a 350? I knew that the 450^ cab and chassis it was available, but didn't know the 350 still had them.

Oh yeah. 350 chassis cab, pretty sure. I'll pay better attention next time I'm there. Great plant. I guess it doesn't count, to us, if you have to order 20 of them that way, so maybe what I see won't do, anyways.

The only way I'm wrong about the 7x displacement, is if I miscalculated the stroke. I know it's going to be short stroke and modern. Just not how much shorter.

90% of us will be better off with the 6.2L. The 7.3 will be a low BMEP work horse. Like the wheezy GM 8.8L. It'll be a pretty lame engine to put in a Raptor. Minus well put a 200hp Ford 460 in.

I'd only be interested in it, if it's a push rod engine with no VVT. Reliability. Otherwise, I like the 6.2L better, for my needs.
Where are you getting 7.3L? The article clearly says 7.0L. It also says it's going into a Raptor first, so the 7.0L (not 7.3L) is not just a low RPM workhorse, although that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing in as F250/F350 for towing.

The 6.2 is already over square, meaning the stroke is shorter than the bore. I'm guessing it will have a longer stroke, which would be good in a truck application. Give me DOHC with VVT to breath good up top, and a longer stroke to make torque down low. We all know how good the 6.2 is above 3k rpm, imagine if it was that good or a little better and had monster low end torque because of a longer stroke.

While I cannot recall where (I'm sure it was in the SD 17+ forum), this is not the first time I've read 7.3.

I have a hunch they're calling it the "7x" for a reason. And that reason ain't a zero.

That, and minus well just drop the 6.2L, if the 7.0, IS just a 6.2L bored and stroked. Why keep both around? I'm also not buying the Raptor stuff until I see it. Wouldn't a BB pretty much screw up all the F150 EPA economy #'s and such. I don't hear any Raptor rumors.

I did a quick Google search and found three articles saying 7.0L going into a 2019 Raptor and F150, their were more links I just looked at the first three.
With direct injection and cylinder delete like the 5.7L ram Ford might get the milage and torque to ecoboost levels with a big V8. We all love a big V8 and without the turbos to worry about I'm in.

I could be wrong. Or we might be talking about 2 different engines. Wouldn't startle me at all if Ford had a smaller Al block, bored and stroked 7.0 based on the current 6.2L. But that's not the Global engine going in the Super Duty I'll bet.

“Minus well” just listen to this guy. He seems to know a lot about grammar and trucks. 🙄

I’m thinking it’ll at least make 450hp/485tq in SD applications, more in the Raptor.

Have to wait and see what it is first if it ever becomes reality.
