7.0 is coming
I'm posting this here, quite frankly because this section is dead, and there are quite a few of us that are regulars in here. Maybe a conversation piece for you.
I'm guessing we will see the 7.0 by 2020, maybe a year sooner. It's been rumored that the raptor will have a 7.0 available as soon as late 2018. The Shelby GT500 is suppose to be available in a couple months, and they have kept a wrap on the power plant. I had a thought that since the 6.2 was originally designed for the mustang, maybe this 7.0 would work its way into the line up. Low and behold, I came across this today.

Im stoked at what the 7.0 may have to offer. More power with the same or better fuel mileage? One thing that gets me in that article is that they mentioned it was replacing the 6.8 v10. Could that mean it's going to be available in cab and chassis and an option with the 6.2 as a base motor in 250/350 pick ups? Or is that just an ignorant author? I don't know that I will jump right out and buy one, I still love my truck, and had planned on driving it for many years to come. But it will certainly get me to the dealer for a test drive, much like the 2018 mustang GT did. The 17 body style has finally grown on me in certain trims and colors. Only took it a year.

a good read.. a replacement for the V10... motor homes and such...aka F53 assembly.
based on the attached link...
forged parts available for the Mustang.. so standard will also be available for trucks..
I read on this forum.. years ago by an engineer at Ford.. the 6.2L had lots of room for cylinder and head work.. including 3 or 4 valves per cylinder..
for future needs of the market.. as what He Said.
Time will Tell.

I like keeping up with the latest and greatest.. I used to be a pro-wrencher. not Ford.
the number of years.. I can drive / tow / camp / ride motorcycles are becoming limited,
for several reasons.
my current Truck / trailer / motorcycle most likely be my final ones.. so anything new is just Learning..
I try to Learn something New every day... some times it 3 or 10

Ugh that’s why I quit going to putc early on because of the pissing and moaning. I like TFLTruck but they have the same problem in the comment sections sometimes.
i feel like the 7.0 with 10-speed could be a really strong combo. Hard to know for sure what the reputation for reliability will be but if they have taken lessons learned from the 6.2 then we can all start arguing about which of the gassers is better which will be infinitely more entertaining.
im gonna throw down the first guess on power numbers: 405/485
come at me bro

I've seen a couple article stating it's a DOHC. I can't see ford going back to push rods after mastering the modulars. If this is another over-square design like the 6.2, with DOHC, I could see it pushing 500hp and 550ftlbs, and that's in truck applications. Lord knows what they could do in a performance application.
I agree the numbers are possible.
and NO on the push-rods.
possible direct injection.
