i am changing my air box and was wondering i have heard mixed thoughts on a closed box or open intake . was looking at a volant closed box or maybe an AFE magnum system they say that an open box dont get a real cold charge because of the engine heat so i was wondering what everyone thinks about that.

Ford has an intake modification. Ford is selling it as a Severe Duty option for construction use vehicles AND equipment. The Motocraft part number is FA-1759 and the Ford Number is 2U2Z9K635AA. Cost under $200

I have been using the AFE system for about 9 months now. I too cleaned it for the first time last week. Everything beyond the filter was a clean as could be. Very pleased with the system thus far.

That would be nice. Problem might be with routing a duct to the passenger side, guess you could leave it as unfunctional. It would be easy to duct the driver's side to the Ford AIS, enough room for a 4 or 5" duct for extra intake.
