Factory Dashcam

I took an Uber last week, the guy picks me up in a brand new Honda Civic (that would almost fit in the bed of my truck). Whenever he hits the turn signal, the mirror mounted cam view of the turn direction shows live video on the display (and it was crystal clear HD to see if anyone was in his path on the lane change). For the love of god, why doesn't my massive $80K 8000lb truck with blind spots galore not do that? I appreciate those cameras for parking...every day. But why the limitations for when in motion, and above 5mph? Its ridiculous...really. Any camera hacks out there?

Again ... the black box in your truck is mandatory and can be used as evidence AGAINST you, whereas a personally installed dashcam is yours and is not (yet) mandatory. Undetermined if its apparent availability (it's in the truck) will be deemed mandatory evidence in either direction. So, how many more personal freedoms are you willing to relinquish? Yeah, I want a dashcam. No, I don't want a dashcam as mandatory equipment. Interpretation of a video can go in multiple directions because a single camera does not tell the whole story.

I would expect as we get more and more tech towards autonomous driving this will be a given.
I have been surprised how many positive comments that have been posted on this site for the autonomous tech. I would have thought the pickup demographic would be one of the last bastions of “keep it simple, I will drive myself.” Adaptive cruise is an example. In fact, many comments of how people want it improved rather than removed.
Not saying there here haven’t been comments like that just that there is so much support for it.

Falcon Heavy to launch next month from Apollo 11 pad at the Cape. Will have double thrust of next largest rocket. Guaranteed to be exciting, one way or another.
More
Payload will be my midnight cherry Tesla Roadster playing Space Oddity. Destination is Mars orbit. Will be in deep space for a billion years or so if it doesn’t blow up on ascent.
