I asked this question a while back on the day my buddy punched a hole in his oil filter after running over a t-post that was hidden under some dirt. It left him stranded an hour from home out on the ranch. He had to wait a while for someone to get out of work and go buy oil and a filter to take to him. Someone recommended a skid plate that some company made. I’ll look back and see if I can find it.
This is the second time my motor craft filter has leaked. I haven't noticed any spots on my drive way but I think ill be trying something other than motor craft. I wiped it off and ill check it in a couple of days.
What I am seeing is possibly either overtightened or undertightened filter or the filter body on the truck is warped or has a metal burr tearing the gasket.
Are you sure this comes from the filter and not some other part of the motor and just dripping off the filter? To my eye, and I could be very wrong, it seems like other areas in the picture look oily/dirty.
The F-150 offers a "skid plate" on FX4 models that covers the bottom of the engine. The Super Duty FX4 "skid plates" cover the fuel tank and a very small one under the transfer case. The engine is fully exposed.
I'm mostly terrified of crunching the DPF off-road compared to anything else.

Did you make sure you got the OLD GASKET off? I find when I remove the old filter the old gasket likes to stay stuck to the mounting plate. When I put a new filter on, I now have two gaskets and it will leak like your photo.
The old gasket was stuck when i took the filter off. I always check now.... Ive made messes before. When I went to wipe down the housing I found the old gasket in the rag.
My truck does the same thing, I have to tighten the crap out of it, sometimes I worry about breaking it, or it will leak. I always lube the seal and make sure the old one is off. It has been like that since the truck was new.
