I've had my new XLT 350F less than two weeks & last night was the 1st time to lower the tail gate but it won't open. When I double click my key fob to unlock I hear a clicking noise on the tail gate but it still will not open or unlatch. I've searched on Google but no good suggestions...I need help. I'm sure its something simple....Thanks
After you hear the click noise can you pull on the tailgate to open? If yes, mine had the same problem after a spray-in bed liner. I had to trim some of the bed liner off so it wouldn't catch. Also sometimes the rubber bumps near the latches will hold it up, you might have to do some shaving there.
I don't know if this will help. MY 2011 F250 with a manual latch would sometimes do the same thing. I found that pressing inward on the top of the tailgate while I pulled the handle would allow the latches to release and the tailgate to open.
Had the actuator that unlocks the tailgate go bad on my '15 F150 about a year after I got it. Using the fob, the button on the tailgate or the one in the cab produced no sound or effect. The dealership replaced it under warranty.
