timing chain

I heard in 72 the 460 was toned down because of emissions and the timing chain has something to do with that change. If thats true is there any aftermarket timin chain set that will give me back that lost power?

Yes there are several manufacturer's that have them.

Comp Cams, Edelbrock, Crane, Cloyes, some generic ones.

You can also get a stock replacement timing set for a 68 - 71. Just look on the crank gear to see if the timing mark is straight above the woodruf key slot. If so its not retarded.

I think I'm gathering on here that the fuel injected 460's also used straight up timing from the factory. Or not retarded.

So that would be 88 and up to 96 I think.
