JeliBuilt Tuning

Looks like the 7.3 crowd has another tuner to consider for either Hydra or TS 6. I'm thrilled with my new 1023 tunes, but there are 12 more positions available on my Hydra to fill. JeliBuilt looks to be ready for serious driving with a specific sled and dyno tune.

I started a thread asking about Jelibuilt a while ago, but got almost no responses. Glad to see someone is thinking about trying them. From what I've seen, his tunes seem to be pretty good. Might have to get a few for my truck to see how they compare.

Interesting read:

Team JeliBuilt took the win last night in Outlaw at Diesel Truck Wars. Fastest pass of the night was a 6.19 @ 112.9. We made some 6.3X passes, then a 6.21, followed by a 6.19. Special thanks to Paul's Custom Fabrication for setting us up with an awesome 4 link suspension. We were able to get the 60's in the 1.45-1.46's on its first outing. We are currently the world's quickest 7.3 4x4 and overall the 2nd quickest Powerstroke 4x4. More modifications coming this winter and 5 second 1/8 mile passes are looking promising in the spring!

Turns out that his shop is located in Chesapeake, Virginia which is about an hour away from me. I will be ordering a tune or two from him shortly and will give y’all feedback soon.

Please do, more options for us means better results. Please provide feedback not only on the tunes, but how responsive the employees/business owner were with you if/when you had questions and/or concerns.

For example, yesterday when I was speaking with Dusty from 1023 Tuning I asked about switching between the GH tunes and his and he said that he would rather I don't just to be on the safe side. He is not 100% sure which HEX code GH used, so it would be better to switch to his tunes while the truck was not running.

Examples such as this is how you earn respect.

Hmm, that's close enough to me. Wonder if they allow peeks under the hood of that 7.3...

Well guys and gals, I finally got the chance to order and upload some Jelibuilt tunes. Before I get started on how the tunes perform, I will say that the customer service that Brian provided me was top notch. I did need a few revisions before I was happy with the tunes, and he always got the revisions to me in a day or two at the most.

Now for the tunes: I went with the tow performance, daily driver, and hot street.

Tow Performance: Haven't towed a big enough load to really see how it does, but with the light towing I've done so far, it does great. Shifting is spot on and not too harsh. This tune also had a perfect combo of a responsive throttle, but not being an so touchy that it's like on-off switch.

Daily Driver: This tune has pretty good power, and the throttle is very linear. Personally, I prefer a touchier throttle, and requested a much touchier throttle. Brian gave me exactly what I asked for, but after a few days of driving, I decided the pedal was a little too touchy for daily driving in town for me. So I asked Brian if he could make the throttle identical to the tow tune, he did without hesitation. Overall, I like this tune, but I will say the daily tune from 1023 diesel has a bit more get up and go.

Hot Street: Out of all the tunes I've ran on my truck, this one feels like it has the most power. It doesn't burn quite as clean as the daily tune, but it is still very easy to daily drive. The shifting is a little firmer than the daily tune, but not overly harsh.

Another thing that I noticed is that on all of the tunes, engine noise is noticeably quieter than all other tunes I've ever ran. Both at idle and while getting up to speed.

Revisions: I'm gonna be honest, the first set of tunes I got weren't my favorite. Idle quality wasn't very good, the shifting wasn't to my liking, and the throttle was a little laggy for me. However, in a matter of days, Brian had gotten each tune tailored to my liking. Every truck and driver is different, but after dealing with Jelibuilt, I am highly convinced that Brian will work with you and get your truck running right.

Hope this helps anyone thinking about getting some more tunes for their truck

Been running Jelibuilt tunes for several months also have SDK tunes. At the moment I prefer the Jelibuilt. The shifting strategy is much better shifts firm but not enough to break parts. Cooler egt's and the truck overall feels better.
Brian is real easy to work with. I did five revisions with him in a short time period. Had the revisions within an hour each time. Funny thing is i'm actually getting 15mpg unloaded in the city compared to 12 before. Hand calculated of course.

I ran into that exact issue when switching from GH tunes to 1023. Do NOT load tunes from two different tuners on your Hydra. At the very least anyway, you can't switch between them while the truck is running. Bad things will happen.

Very happy with my 1023 tunes so far.

There’s no problem with switching between Tuners as long as they use the same hex code. That can be verified in the Hydra flash software.
