Currently in the process of restoring my 52 F3, trying to bring it back as close as possible to when it rolled off the assembly line. I see stuff here and there about a Five Star Package. I've done some looking but a lot of the places I looked gave me conflicting answers. Anyways, how do I know if i have a five star package or not? thanks!
Easiest is does it have the 3 spear hood side trim ? Bright metal windshield trim , door panels , dome light above rear window , dual trumpet horns , dispatch box lock , driver side door lock & much more .
There were two trim packages in 1951/1952. The base level was called the “5 Star” and the deluxe was called the “5 Star Extra”. If memory serves, (that’s risky), I believe we’ve read that these were US only marketing terms. In Canada the “Extra” package might have been termed the “Deluxe” or similar term. Anyway, the truck will tell you whether it has/had any of the features shown in the below chart from the 1952 Sales Handbook. Options like the radio and Magic Air fresh air heater were sold separately, not parts of the 5 Star Extra package. There is no way to tell which package the truck has based on the VIN number. As a result many trucks have been upgraded during restoration.
Here’s some nice restored examples. All had the red/gray fabric colors irrespective of body paint color. Stu
Judging by what you both have said It had the basic package. But since I’m fulling restoring It, i might make the upgrade. Thank you both for the help!
Yeah, that can be the hardest piece to find. I was at an auction a couple years ago and picked up a rust free 5 Star Extra driver’s door for $20. Just laying by itself surrounded by other junk. I was dancing about that. Stu
I've been told the perforated headliners are hard to find, too. Mine has one that I took out of an F-8, but haven't seen any reproductions being offered. - Bob

Why doesn't anyone reproduce the perforated "thermo-accoustic" headliner? No one reproduces them for 53 to 56 either. If I had a custom cab, which I don't, I'd be ticked that I could not do an accurate restoration. And have you seen the grey cardboard they use for the kick panels and headliner? It's just that, grey cardboard! The original stuff had a grain pattern to it. Much nicer.
