Cab corners and....
So I'm getting around to replacing the cab corners on my '86 regular cab. I got them in the mail today and took them out to sort of mock up. The passengers side looks fairly straight forward, although until I start removing metal and grinding will I see the full story. The driver side was a different story. Not only was there a rust hole on the cab corner, but it seemed to rot out a bit on what I've seen l listed as "lower door post." So I hopped on bronco graveyard and started snooping around and there are 2 listed, a front and a rear, the rear shows some sort of bolt along the lower valence, and the front actually looks more like what I need? I attached 2 pictures to show what I have, and what the patch panel covers. Any help would be appreciated! Also, is it good practice to cut down patch panels to only the needed size rather than cut the body out more than need be to patch? I'm looking at the easr of removing more metal vs whoops! I cut to much and that's the biggest panel they sell!

I have used #16 in the link below for 87-up trucks and it works well. Not sure why they do not offer it for the 86-dwn trucks.

I think this link should help with the part you need.

Here is the part being installed. You can also see where I marked the truck body with black marker where the top of the cab corner panel went before I trimmed it shorter. This way I knew how high I could go with out cutting into area not covered by the patch.

That's the same part jbg lists as well. I can't see good from your picture, but did it go high enough to weld into the rear pillar? What I'm seeing is there is the main pillar on the back of the cab, that transitions into that piece, and the cab corner overlaps from the rear. If I'm not mistaken, mine almost seems to be rusted higher than what that piece would cover. In which I will definitely get that piece, but I may have to fabricate another section to go higher. Looks like you've done some extensive work to your truck as well! Very nice!
