I'm receiving conflicting reports from the dealer, and online on the towing capacity for my new truck. The truck has a hitch, but no brake controller, leading me to believe I do not have the "tow package". I know that I can add the brake controller for a decent price, but am trying to figure out what my max towing capacity is. Any help is appreciated!

 

Open your manual and read what every truck and tow or haul by, engine, wheelbase, etc. your starting weight is on your registration at least in California. The manual ca show what the total of truck/trailer combo is...
Without knowing every spec. of your truck we can't.

 

Mine has a towing capacity of 5000 pounds but it pulled 5700 pounds for 275 miles earlier this month with no problem....

 

We don't know which cab, engine or gear ratio your truck has. The best thing would be to review the following Tow Capacity Chart page 33/35. 2018 F-150 Towing Capacity Chart

 

Look at your window sticker. It says if you have the tow package or not. Also look for the towmode **** on the dash.

 

The new transmissions all have tow / haul. That does not mean the truck has trailer tow package. The only way to find out is from the window sticker. Just because it has a receiver hitch doesn't mean it has trailer tow package. LOOK ON THE WINDOW STICKER!!!!
