Towing with a 2014 F150 Supercrew FX4

Correction ; Truck is actually an 2013. I just bought the truck and am trying to figure out how much i can tow safely. Name: 20170222_154713_001.jpg
Views: 702
Size: 2.71 MB It is equipped with 3.5 Ecoboost 3.55 145 wheelbase and max tow. Trailer would be around 7,000 pounds loaded. All replies appreciated. Sorry for the sideway picture but don`t know how to rotate it.

9600 lbs by the link provided above.

a couple of things to note though, your truck doesn't have the max tow option.

Max tow came with 3.73 gears, brake controller, big towing mirrors, upgraded hitch/bumper, and a higher GVWR.

The brake controller could be added to any truck with the standard towing package, and if you have the towing mirrors they were added by the previous owner.

not that any of this really matter, as 9,600 lbs towing is a lot of capacity on it's own.

With only 1298 pounds of payload capacity, by the time you subtract passengers and other stuff (say 500 pounds) the OP is looking at 798 pounds left for tongue weight. At 10% of trailer weight, that leaves approximately 7000 pounds fully loaded for a camper. In other words, I wouldn't get a camper with a stated GVWR of over 7000 pounds.

thanks for the info . I was confused by the numbers when i looked up the VIN . looked like it had the max tow . Could it have been ordered with the 3:55 instead of the 3:73 ?

not as far as i know.

which vin decoder are you using?
the one on this site has a history of not being quite right.

try this one if you haven't already:
https://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleReg...CDCEA.fcvas511

it tends to be more right than wrong.

a max tow with a 7200 GVW makes no sense at all.
it should be 7650 or 7700 for a max tow.
