i dont know if this has to do with my clutch again but when i release the clutch after shifting in to 2nd gear it makes a clank. what could this be? is it somethin i should fix?
Are you sure that the clank is in the tranny? It could be coming from the rear end due to excessive baklash in the crown and pinion. This usually happens in a first second shift but when up to speed the backlash is not so noticable and road noise helps drown it out as well.
ok well i was listening while driving today and im pretty sure that it does this in 1st and 2nd. but it only makes the light clank noise when im making a hard turn. (usually when im at a stop sign and i make the turn. so im thinkin it has to do w/ my steering?
Try this. With the truck in neutral, engine off, parking brake on and wheels blocked, crawl under neath and twist the drive shaft by hand back and forth and listen for the clank. Also check the U joints for play.
Depending on the length of your drive shaft you will have 2 or 3 U joints. One is right behind the tranny the other is just ahead of the rear end and if your drive shaft is the long type used in a club cab long box truck the third one is at the carrier bearing in the middle of the drive shaft.
