I purchased a superchip (used) it came off a 2001 F-250 7.3 PSD, the person I purchased from sold his truck months ago, doesn't know what computer chip he had in his truck, my question is - he has the VIN # from his old truck would a ford dealer be able to tell which chip was in it ?
It doesn't matter what his code was, it matters what you truck's code is. Open the driver's side door. Next to the hinges on the door frame you'll see a white sticker. Tell me what's on that... chances are the chip will need to be reprogrammed for your code.
If you can't find the code there, let me know and I'll post a photo of an alternate (though more difficult to see) location.
The white sticker is there but i can't make out the code, if you could please show me another location i would appreciate it, thanks .
i went ahead and purchased the chip, spoke to someone at fte about reprogramming it, will call and arrange as soon as i can find code, just read about reprogramming problems, will i have same ??, gold chip has E.O. #D-330-4 on it no other legible tags.
What's the year truck is it going into? There are a couple of other locations where they can be found. Give us a ring. Before 2pm EST I can sometimes get busy with other customers or programming but if I'm free I'll be happy to talk with you! After 2-3 I'm pretty much free from my "chores."
Open the hood. Look on the driver's side firewall, low down. You'll see a wiring harness bolted to a box that sticks through the firewall. The code will be on the box where the wiring harness clamps to it. You may need a mirror to see it.
