I am installing a NON tilt column from an 82 f150 into my truck and am going to replace the ignition cylinder before I do it. When I tried to remove the cylinder, I realized it was very hard to turn, and then when I pressed the pin down to remove it, I couldn't get it out. Upon further review, I the rod that connects to the ignition switch barely moves when I do get the ignition cylinder to turn. Any ideas what I need to do? I googled the issue and the only hits I get are for tilt columns.
The rod, even when the ignition cylinder is in lock position, is well below the surface of the hole where it usually protrudes a good 1/4" or so. (not sure if that makes any sense or not.) Its like turning the cylinder isn't engaging the rod or actuator.
