Amp power step extension

I’m trying to find out if someone makes some sort of drop plate for running boards. It must be a flat plate with four holes at the top and four holes at the bottom. I’m trying to drop down the entire power step assembly a least a couple of inches. The 2” step extensions will not work on my kit that amp makes ive already asked them. And I know I could get someone to make something for me but I’m looking to see if someone makes something before I go threw all of that. Thanks

I am looking for someone to cut a large piece-- around 1/4 - 1/2 thick steel about a foot wide approximately. It will stretch the length of the truck on the side and serve as a spacer to make my running boards lower to the ground. 2002 Ford Excursion limited.

Wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations on getting something made with a water jet. I live in NC so the closer the better. . Thanks!

A 1' wide chunk of 1/2" that long would be pretty heavy. I would go with aluminum.

1/2" thick plate 1 foot wide will weigh 20 pounds per foot.

Why not just extent the current brackets down to the desired height.

I don’t care about how much it weighs. It’s an excursion it’s super heavy anyways and because I also wanted our business logo cut out in it so I could back light it at night. Show me where I can get these brackets? I don’t see anything like that I’ve looked everywhere.

I would think any local fabrication shop would do it.

The point isn't it adding weight to the Excursion, the point is if you mount it the same way the factory boards are mounted it WILL eventually rip out of the sheet metal.

You’ll be better off getting the chrome tube steps that came on some X’s. They are a couple inches lower, and are open at the back. Then you could back light a piece of aluminum mounted to the brackets.

I wouldn’t lower the existing running boards. They won’t look right and will have too much leverage when stepping on them that they will start to tear the metal on the rocker panels.

If this is for that GIANT monster truck EX, I think going with a custom fabricated set of frame mounted (vs factory body mounted running boards) rock slider/entry steps would be the hot ticket.
Like has been said, extending the stock boards down and still using the factory sheet metal mounting would be asking for trouble from the additional leverage imposed by the extensions.

The same fabrication shop that is going to cut your name in a 1/2 plate of steel can easily fabricate some bracket extensions from the same thickness sheet metal ford used on your stock ones.

If you wanted to DIY, go to a junk yard and cut the brackets off a Ford Expedition and use the bracket parts to build your extensions. Simple welding job.

I posted in the thread you created here in the Ex forum, but you never acknowledged it.

I'm gonna merge that earlier thread with this one, since there is no reason to have two.
