Front edge hood repair

Anyone have pics of this repair? I️ ordered the top and bottom pieces from midfifty, about to tackle it

This hood fits awesome, and there’s no dents or dings. And it was free!!

I’m gonna document upper and lower inside repair for anyone looking for how to’s

The upper front edge was dented, rusted and full of Bondo.

A couple spot welds on the sides and a cutoff wheel removed the upper panel, and shows the lower inside panel where the hood dowel secures

The lower panel is held in place by a few spot welds on each side and spot welded to the bracket that holds the hood dowel

There’s actually three pieces sandwiches together holding it all together

Here are the spot welds holding the panel to the latch portion Area

Once all the spot welds are free, light taps and this section slides right out

Now just waiting on the 2 replacement panels from midfifty. Easier to buy the parts then spend hours and hours fixing the rust and cancer. I’ll report back when i get parts tacked in

Got the new pieces, i had to bend the outside tabs straight to get this piece to fit. We all know repop panels don’t fit perfectly

I lined up the 2 holes and clamped them. I did some measuring to make sure it was square.

Once i was happy, i tacked it into place and flipped it over to test fit the outer top piece

Yeah I ran into a little fender problem. I wanted the fenders on and lining up with the hood before I welded on the final piece
