HID bulbs can be a huge improvement, or a big let down. If the bulbs don't align the emitter exactly where the original bulb's filaments were the light won't be focused properly. Also if the wrong color is chosen they won't be good, there is such a thing as too white. From memory the ideal for visibility is somewhere around 5000k, research that.
