Best way to paint horn button
#46
Here is my finished product. I finally removed the tape and got the paint off the script and stars. I used my finger and thumb nail to pick the paint off the script and stars.
I think it looks pretty good. I am not pleased with the paint at the edge of the ring. It is not as sharp and clean as the first one I did. There are a couple of imperfections in the paint, but it is good enough. This one will go in my 55 the work truck.
So now I will begin the button that is on my 55 F350.

all things considered
I think it looks good Abe. I think you are like me , trying to get things perfect. I have learned with restoration that getting something absolutely "perfect" on something that is 60 plus years old is a monumental task.
The major reason I like my truck is because of its has character and patina. Just like refinishing old furniture, its the quality of workmanship and character that makes it worth having.
Good job.

So I'm satisfied with this button and now to do the same to the one in my 55 F350.

Looks good Abe...sometimes the detail work on these trucks is far more time/effort consuming than the big work. I use a variety of dabbers in my work, I used to just twist a piece of paper towel to a fine point to use for touch-up but these dabbers work much better. https://www.autobodytoolmart.com/ez-dabber-p-17790.aspx

Here is the horn button on the steering wheel of my 54. And it looks like I need to clean the grooves of the steering wheel.
It's not perfect but better than before. I will soon do the same to the button on my 55. The best finished product will go on the 54 and second best goes on my 55.
