Hey guys,
I have a few scratches I want to take care of.. some are pretty shallow but others are somewhat deep (the paint is completely off). I don't know why, but the deep ones are on top of my roof.. I noticed them when in the bed.. weird.
Anywho, I bought a Ford paint stick. I don't like how it looks on other vehicles, so I figured I'd ask for your techniques to obtain a nice finish.
Thanks all.
touch up paint NEVER comes out perfect nor good. Return that, and save up for a proper paint job. I would just leave it alone because I have yet to see a good touch up paint job using those pens or even brushes

I understand your view, but I don't want it to rust, and I'm not going to repaint my whole truck for a handfull of scratches.
well then, I have touched up paint before using Duplicolor touch up paint kits. Usually they give you primer, paint, and clear coat, but the Dealership paint has all that "built" in. I would still go and get a stick of primer. Clean the surface, primer it, then use your Ford touch up paint and lightly roll/brush it on. Mulitple thin coat is better than one THICK coat. Good luck
On areas that aren't very exposed, I just use regular touch up paint. No, it doesn't look good by any means, but it WILL stop rust! Rust is difficult and expensive to repair, but it won't cost you any more to sand and paint a touched up scratch as opposed to an exposed, rusty one!
Do a search on the net. It will come up with some good advice.
Note: To do a good quality job, you must follow a series of steps. I looked this up a few months ago and read what it took (cannot remember the site). It sounded like it is possible to do a quality job at home.
