Thanks guys, my 66 had no trans when I bought it. Someone robbed it before me. I found one advertised out of a 71 for 100.00. As long as I can make it work by changing bellhousings or bearing retainers it sounds like it's a good purchase.
You need the later bell housing with the smaller bore.

Not true. All of the 2WD NP 435s in the 65/66 F100/F250 had the 4.849 outside diameter bearing retainer. I didn't check the 4WD PNs but I suspect they are also 4.849.
If you look at the list that ND posted it gives the diameter for the 4WD trucks as 5.125" (3rd part number from top), however you can use a reducer to bring it from that size down to one of 2 possible other sizes with something like this. Likely others out there, too.
