So, I'm not sure what to make of this.

But; as the title says, at roughly 2000 rpm I start hearing a clicking or ticking noise that really sounds like it's coming from the instrument cluster or thereabouts. It seems fairly consistent, and stops when the rpms drop around 1800 or less.


Any thoughts? I'm wondering if maybe a spring or something in the tachometer is getting worn out? I know the truck has a ton of miles, but it just seems kind of odd.

There was just another thread regarding a ticking behind the dash. I looked for it for you but couldn't find it. Does your odometer work?

 

I did some searching, but couldn't find anything.


And yeah, currently every gauge on my dash is working fine. That's part of what's weird.

 

Any chance its an exhaust up pipe leak? Worth a shot to check.
